Treatment of the
surrounding tooth area such as gums and root surfaces. For an
individual with healthy gums cleaning is recommended every 6
months as a preventative measure. Most insurances will cover
the expense. If there is evidence of periodontal disease (gum
disease, tooth mobility) it is necessary to receive gum treatment
to arrest the progression of the disease. This is done first
conservatively by scaling and root planning. When this procedure
is no longer feasible due to progression of the disease surgery
is necessary which is performed by Dr. Botar at our facility.
